Costs and Benefits
Ultimately, it is likely that the costs of operating the Colleges and the Collegium will be shared proportionately by the churches of the collegium. For the first few years of operation, the costs of staffing and operation of the Colleges and Collegium will be borne by the cathedral churches. After we have an opportunity to follow the Spirit’s guidance around the operation of the Colleges and a realistic cost and scope of operations can be determined, the Colleges will vote on the timing and methodology of payments. The Collegium will be required to produce annual audited financial statements for review by the Churches and Colleges and will be required to operate under a budget approved by the Colleges. The Churches are financially independent.
The Methodist Collegial Church will provide a platform for peer accountability and opportunities to foster connectionalism among both lay people and clergy in the Colleges and throughout the Collegium. It will provide an infrastructure for training and certification of leaders, and for the sharing of resources and opportunities. It will promote a focus on moving forward and having an impact on sharing the good news of the gospel everywhere
